Public
Speaking Panic Attack Solutions
For people who
don’t normally speak in public, a panic attack can develop so
suddenly that they feel like they can’t breathe. A public
speaking panic attack is one of the most common of all panic
attacks. Normally, once someone gets through it the first time,
it isn’t much of a problem and eventually it becomes as normal
as breathing or walking. Everyone has had this type of panic
attack.
The first time
an individual speaks or sings in public, it can be downright
awful. Along with not being able to breathe you will experience
a dry mouth, confusion, fear, and irrational thoughts. It may
seem familiar to many who read this because everyone goes
through it. The problem with having a public speaking panic
attack is that for some people it is such a terrible experience
that the attacks begin to surface even when they aren't
speaking in public. The problem can continue to grow until
finally, it controls the individual’s entire
life.
Most people
with a public speaking panic attack joke about it afterwards
once they see that they are still alive and okay. Some,
however, will deal with the shock for years to come or even
until they die. It is important for the individual experiencing
these attacks to seek medical help in order to curb the
advancement of the
problem.
How to
Recover From a Public Speaking Panic
Attack
If a few hours
have passed since speaking in public and the individual is
still terrified, talking to someone else that has shared the
same problem can make it easier to readjust. If the panic
continues to linger, then take the time to see a medical
professional about the problem. It isn’t normal for the
feelings to linger even a day later. Explain the problem of the
public speaking panic attack. Sometimes a doctor can alleviate
the problem in just one session.
If it takes
longer, don’t worry about it. Don’t add more trouble to what is
already more than enough. Let your doctor guide you through a
positive treatment plan. It may happen gradually instead of
right away, but that is completely acceptable when dealing with
this kind of situation. As the individual dealing with the
problem, allow yourself to slowly understand the root of the
problem and trust that your doctor knows what he is doing and
will, in fact, deliver the peace of mind that you
need.
